Ingredients
- 2 lbs beef round steak, cut into 4 pieces
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 14.5 oz canned diced tomatoes
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- 1Pound the steaks to about 1/2-inch thickness using a meat mallet to tenderize.
- 2Season the flour with salt and pepper and dredge each steak, shaking off the excess.
- 3Heat the oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat and brown the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side; remove and set aside.
- 4Add the onion and bell pepper to the pan and cook for 5-6 minutes until softened, then add the garlic and cook 30 seconds more.
- 5Stir in the diced tomatoes, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce, scraping up any browned bits.
- 6Return the steaks to the pan, cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 70-80 minutes, until the meat is very tender.
- 7Serve the steaks topped with the tomato and pepper sauce.
