Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream, plus more for brushing
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar, for glaze
- 2 tsp milk, for glaze
Instructions
- 1Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon together in a large bowl.
- 3Cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4Whisk the cream and egg together, then stir into the flour mixture just until a shaggy dough forms.
- 5Turn the dough onto a floured surface, pat into a 3/4-inch-thick circle, and cut into 8 wedges.
- 6Arrange the wedges on the baking sheet, brush the tops with cream, and bake for 16 to 18 minutes, until golden. Whisk the powdered sugar with milk and drizzle over the cooled scones.
