Classic Banana Bread

Ingredients
- 3 very ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, optional
Instructions
- 1Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- 2In a large bowl, mash the bananas well, then stir in the melted butter.
- 3Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined.
- 4Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir in, then add the flour and mix just until no dry streaks remain. Fold in the walnuts if using.
- 5Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- 6Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
