Classic Banana Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 very ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, optional

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. 2In a large bowl, mash the bananas well, then stir in the melted butter.
  3. 3Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. 4Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir in, then add the flour and mix just until no dry streaks remain. Fold in the walnuts if using.
  5. 5Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  6. 6Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
