Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted, plus 1/3 cup softened for filling
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar, for filling
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon, for filling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, for glaze
  • 2 tbsp milk, for glaze

Instructions

  1. 1Whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. 2Add the warm milk, 1/4 cup melted butter, and egg, and mix until a soft dough forms; knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. 3Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour, until doubled in size.
  4. 4Roll the dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface, spread with the softened butter, and sprinkle evenly with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. 5Roll the dough up tightly into a log and slice into 12 even pieces.
  6. 6Arrange the rolls in a greased 9x13-inch pan, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. 7Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the rolls for 22 to 25 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. 8Whisk the powdered sugar with the milk for the glaze and drizzle over the warm rolls before serving.
