Ingredients
- 10 cups day-old bread, cubed
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 cup diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh sage
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme
- 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- 1Preheat the oven to 350 F and spread the bread cubes on a baking sheet; toast for 10 minutes until dry and lightly golden.
- 2Melt the butter in a large skillet and cook the celery and onion until soft, about 6-8 minutes, then stir in the garlic, sage, and thyme.
- 3Transfer the toasted bread to a large bowl and add the vegetable mixture, tossing to combine.
- 4Whisk the broth and eggs together, then pour over the bread mixture along with salt and pepper, stirring until evenly moistened.
- 5Transfer to a greased baking dish, cover with foil, and bake for 25 minutes.
- 6Uncover and bake for another 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden and crisp.
