Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp cold butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup cold buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp melted butter, for brushing

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 425 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. 3Cut the cold butter into the flour using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. 4Stir in the buttermilk just until the dough comes together; do not overmix or the biscuits will turn out tough.
  5. 5Turn the dough onto a floured surface, pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle, and cut into rounds.
  6. 6Place on the baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden on top, then brush with melted butter.
